The purpose of the Distinctly Cumbrian programme is to strengthen the rural economy of the county by providing advice and grants to rural businesses in the quality food, drink and craft sectors which make added value products able to be marketed and identified as distinctive to Cumbria. The programme runs until March 2008 and provides.

- business advice on distribution & procurement 
- advice to support website development & the adoption of IT processes 
- All of the programmes funds are now fully allocated.

Distinctly Cumbrian is part of CREA (Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency) based at Redhills Penrith and is a regeneration initiative funded by the North West Development Agency.
